Finalized Cover Artwork for Hammerdrone, an aggressive melodic Death Metal band from Calgary, AB, Canada, formed in October 2010, forthcoming album titled "Dark Harvest" to be released on March 24th 2017.
Hammerdrone mixes ferocious energy with dark atmosphere. Their music has been compared to the likes of Amon Amarth, Behemoth and Dark Tranquility.
Quote from the band:
"We have a strong concept in mind for our next album, which we have started to record. The album is to be titled "DARK HARVEST". In terms of the content of the Artwork, "Dark Harvest" is based on the story of the "Dark Harvest Commando", and we'd like something that reflects this and is suitably dark, moody, metal and eyecatching. The song of the same name is inspired by the following true events:"
"1942, World War 2. The remote Gruinard Island, off the West coast of Scotland, is chosen as the site for testing an anthrax bio-weapon. The entire island is rendered uninhabitable as a result.
1981. Newspapers in the UK receive letters from the mysterious "Dark Harvest Commando", who claim to have retrieved contaminated soil from the island, and threaten to leave packages in locations that will "ensure the rapid loss of indifference of the government" unless the island is decontaminated.
The island is finally declared fit for human habitation in 1990."
"We are looking for something dramatic and powerful that reflects the story of the Dark Harvest Commando. I have in mind a zodiac (boat) full of men in gas masks landing on a beach at night time, the name 'Dark Harvest' on the boat; in the distance smoke rises from a fire on the mainland, roughly forming the shape of a biohazard symbol as it merges with the clouds. Perhaps the 'Commando' landing on the deserted island in the middle of the night, gasmasks on?"
